Know Before You Go
Travel Documents
Please check your e-tickets carefully for accuracy. Ensure your dates are correct and your name is spelled as it appears on your passport. Please notify the Lorandus team at danielle@lorandus.com if there are any discrepancies. Please note that once issued, your airline ticket is non-refundable.
Advanced Airline Check-In
When possible, we recommend checking in online with your specific airline(s) 24 hours prior to departure. In some cases, this may not be possible. If this is the case, please allow a little extra time at the airport for check-in. If you would like to change your seating, this may also be done at the time of check-in. Please review your e-tickets carefully for further instructions.
Airport Check-In
Please ensure you arrive at the airport at least 3 hours prior to your international flight departure time. Your passport is required for check-in. Due to increased airport security measures, please be sure to leave ample time for check-in as late arrival could result in denied boarding.
Security and Baggage
Please respect the safety regulations for all international flights. Knives, scissors, lighters, nail manicure sets, razors or any other sharp objects must be packed in your checked luggage. These items will not be allowed inside the plane cabin or in your carry-on baggage. Please refer to your specific airline for baggage restrictions and allowances. Visit the Government of Canada website for a comprehensive list of security information for air travel.
Arrival and Departure
*Please note, due to the nature of the arrival experience, please ensure ALL baggage is labelled and tagged with your contact information on it.
Instructions for arrivals at Dubrovnik Ruđer Bošković Airport (DBV) on the program dates:
As you will likely have passed through passport control into the Schengen Zone before your connecting flight to Dubrovnik, you will be able to head directly to the baggage claim to collect your luggage. The airport is small and easy to navigate.
As you exit the baggage claim area, you will be greeted by a representative holding a welcome sign with the Imperial Dade logo for easy identification. They will assist you with any immediate needs and guide you to your private transportation, extending a warm welcome to Dubrovnik.
If you are staying in the surrounding area before the program start date of April 26:
If you are arriving in Croatia prior to the program dates, you will need to arrange your own hotel and transportation to the Sun Gardens Resort in Dubrovnik.
Instructions for departures
On May 1, transportation will be provided from the Sun Gardens Resort to Dubrovnik Ruđer Bošković Airport. Detailed departure information will be provided in your registration packet.
Instructions for departures if you are extending in Croatia:
All transfers outside of the program dates and to alternate locations from the airport will be at your own expense.
Arrival at the Sun Gardens Resort
Welcome/Check-In
Upon arrival at the hotel, you will check in at the front desk. The official check-in time is 2 p.m., however, every effort will be made to have rooms ready upon arrival.
As you are arriving one day ahead, to allow some time to adjust to the new time zone after a long day of travel, a casual dinner will be provided for you at the hotel this evening. Please stop by the Giardino room for a light meal and some drinks. You will be able to pick up your registration package from the Lorandus team at that time.
Dinner will be served, buffet style: from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
Ongoing Hospitality
Throughout your stay at the Sun Gardens Resort, the Lorandus travel team will be on-site to assist you in every way possible. The Hospitality Desk is located in the main lobby near the meeting rooms.
Please consult the Lorandus staff at the Hospitality Desk or via email for changes to the program or please stop by with any questions you have throughout the week.
Check-Out
Hotel check-out time is 11:00 a.m. Departures from the Sun Gardens Resort on May 1, 2026, will be covered by Imperial Dade and organized by your Lorandus partners. You will receive your departure instructions in your registration package upon arrival in Dubrovnik.
All personal incidentals should be settled prior to your departure from the hotel.
Food and Beverage Inclusions
From April 26 to May 1, all food and beverages provided during designated program activities are included. Throughout the program, you will have the opportunity to enjoy three meals at your leisure – one dinner and two lunches – for which a stipend will be provided.
Additionally, there is an optional farewell dinner on the final evening of the program. If you have indicated during registration that you will attend, the meal will be fully covered. If you prefer to dine at your leisure that evening, you will be responsible for your own dining costs.
Gratuities: All gratuities are included for the group events. For additional meals you may be required to leave a gratuity.
- Outside of the group events, tipping in Croatia is not an obligation but it is appreciated, and the amount you give depends on the type of service and the establishment. For casual dining in restaurants and cafes, it is common to tip from 5% to 10%.
- A 15% tip is typical for exceptional service. Note that service charges are usually not included in the bill, so it is up to you to leave a tip if you feel the service warrants it.

Breakfast Instructions:
Daily breakfast will be provided on property at the Origano Restaurant and can be enjoyed between 7:00 a.m. and 11:00 a.m.

Tips for Travel
- To avoid wrinkled clothing, pack cotton and polyester blends – they wrinkle less than 100% cotton. You can also reduce wrinkles by leaving your clothes in plastic dry-cleaning bags.
- If you carry prescription medications, keep them in the original labelled containers and pack them in your carry-on luggage.
- Take photocopies of your ID and health card, and/ or insurance card in case it is lost or stolen while travelling. You may want to leave a copy at home with a friend or family member.
Travelling in Croatia
- You may want to consider adding the Uber app to your phone for getting around during your free time. Uber is widely available throughout Croatia and offers an affordable, convenient way to travel around.
- Croatian is the official language, but English is commonly spoken in tourist areas. Learning a few basic phrases in Croatian will be appreciated, especially in more rural or less touristy regions.
- Croatia uses the Euro (€), so be sure to have access to some local currency. Credit and debit cards are widely accepted, but it’s always good to have cash on hand for smaller purchases.
- In April/May, the weather in Croatia is generally pleasant and mild, as the country transitions into spring. Daytime highs range from 18°C to 22°C, with recent years trending into the mid 20s and evening lows range from 12°C to 16°C.

Sun Gardens also has a wonderful thermal spa area that is free for all guests to use. This thermal area incorporates:
